Pic of the Day: Greenpeace Activist Portrait

Last year during a working trip in Vancouver I was commissioned by Greenpeace to document some of their demonstrations and capture images of their activists on the frontline.

This particular portrait of a activist was captured during a campaign outside the headquarters of oil distributor Enbridge. The protest was against a proposed oil pipeline being built in Bristish Columbia – highlighting their concerns on the possible negative impact the pipeline would have on the regions environment.
The portrait was shot in mid-day and I experimented with layers and blending modes in Photoshop recently to achieve this gritty high contrast image.
